About St. Lucia

The children of St. Lucia

St.Lucia currently is taking care of 16 children ranging from ages 2 to 15 years. They are receiving medical care including check–ups for CD4 count, Tuberculosis and ART management. These children go to kindergarten and primary schools, with only 1 in secondary school.

St. Lucia started as an adult hospice, but is now predominantly an orphanage. For example, hospice patients came with children and once deceased, the children stayed because they had no other place to live. Now that St. Lucia is established and well–known in the community, families with orphaned HIV positive children know there is hope for their children.
